Overview: Customer had a low cost U-section sheet
steel chassis that required a single shaft to run between the two
vertical faces. The shaft was stepped, making one bearing 0.25" and
the mating bearing 0.187". The chassis was stamped out, including
the mating holes, and then bent into the U-shape.
Problems: This resulted in the mounting holes
always being offest and required extra machining operations and
additional assembly tasks. |
Solution: Spyraflo self-clinch, self-algin Delrin
0.25" and 0.187" bearings were clinched into the punched holes. The
self-clinch option meant the installation was quick, easy and
secure. The self-align capability accommodated the offset in the
mounting holes and ensured a smooth running shaft every time. This
resulted in a better bearing solution, cost savings during assembly
and in machining, and a 100% product performance. |
